Discovering the Scientist Within
Before embarking on my research journey, I believed that becoming a skilled scientist required, above all, a solid knowledge base and the ability to solve complex problems. However, through hands-on experimentation, I came to realize that science demands much more. It requires perseverance when results fall short of expectations, initiative when facing unanswered questions, and the empathy to understand that the true value of a discovery lies not merely in data, but in the impact it can have on people.
My connection to science grew through explorations of the world around me; observing rice stalks rising day by day or the sheen of coffee beans. Vietnam is not only beautiful but also rich in natural resources; why, then, shouldn't we harness these assets for scientific research that benefits the Vietnamese people and their products? Why shouldn't we stand on the shoulders of scientific knowledge to take a more proactive role?

These questions made me realize that science does not exist in isolation from society. Behind every problem awaiting a solution lie practical needs, resource constraints, and the people who will be affected by the chosen approach. This insight has helped me identify research-worthy issues and seek ways to effect change, even when a clear path forward does not yet exist.

I no longer view science merely as a field to be conquered through knowledge. It is also a mindset and a responsibility: the persistence to seek evidence, the initiative to ask new questions, and an unwavering commitment to the people my research aims to serve.
